Abby McCann
Abby McCann is a Scottish actor and writer based in London.
Abby graduated from Oxford University in 2020, where she was awarded the Juliet Bernard Memorial Prize for Most Promising Actress.
In 2023, she received critical acclaim for starring in Cesca Echlin’s one-woman show LOOKING FOR GIANTS at the Edinburgh Fringe. Her performance received stand-out reviews and saw her longlisted for Offies’ Best Solo Performance Award. A screen adaptation is currently in development.
In 2024, Abby starred in the leading role of ‘Masha’ in Emma Howlett’s re-imagining of Chekov SISTERS THREE at Edinburgh’s Summerhall. The show received critical acclaim and was awarded the Lustrum Award for 2024’s ‘Unforgettable Show’.
Abby’s further theatre credits include starring as ‘Claudia Roe’ in a run of Lucy Prebble’s ENRON at the Oxford Playhouse, directed by Emma Howlett, and Chloë Lawrence-Taylor’s IF WE ENDED THIS at the Camden Fringe, for which she was hailed an “exciting new talent”.
Abby will collaborate with Cesca Echlin again in her upcoming show SHORT PLEASURES LONG WOES, set to debut in London across 2024.
Abby’s writing credits include her most recent piece AFTER SEX, which debuted at the Golden Goose Theatre as part of their New Writers Showcase in 2024, and THAS A RUMMUN which is set to tour later this year. In 2023, she was selected to perform her own piece for the West End Debut of UP ALL NIGHT.
On the screen, Abby can be seen in Calum Bradshaw’s upcoming short film 90 MILE BEACH, produced by Four Eyes Productions.
