Louisa Connolly-Burnham

Louisa Connolly-Burnham is an award-winning actor, director and screenwriter.

Louisa wrote, directed, produced and stars in the award-winning short film SISTER WIVES, which also stars BAFTA-winner Mia McKenna-Bruce and Michael Fox. The film has received a series of accolades on it’s 2024 global festival run, including a record-breaking four awards at Sunrise Film Festival (including ‘Best British Film’ and ‘Best Director’), the Iris Prize for ‘Best British Short Film’, ‘Best Director’ at HollyShorts and British Short Film Awards, and being longlisted for BIFA and BAFTA 2024.

As a writer-director, Louisa’s further credits include her debut short THE CALL CENTRE, winner of the Audience Awards at ÉCU Film Festival and Sunday Shorts Film Festival; and her second short film THE TRACK, for which she was awarded “Best Director” at the 2022 World Indie Film Awards. Her third and fourth directorial shorts THE CEILING and FLEETING will be released later this year.

As an actor, Louisa is best known for her roles in VAMPIRE ACADEMY for NBC Universal and Peacock, and the BAFTA-winning WOLFBLOOD for BBC. She can also be seen in LITTLE CRACKERS (Sky), DRIFTERS (Channel 4), and CALL THE MIDWIFE (BBC). On the stage, Louisa starred in the leading role of the 2017 production of TRIBES at Crucible Theatre and in the 2018 production of BEIRUT at The Park Theatre.

In 2024, Louisa was awarded the Iris Prize for ‘Best British Performance’ for her role as ‘Kaidance’ in SISTER WIVES. Previously, she was nominated for ‘Best Actress’ at the Queen World Film Festival for her role in the film BENEATH WATER, directed by Charlie Manton.

Louisa founded her production company Thimble Films in 2019 and is the lead singer of alt-folk band VIRENS.
