Louisa Connolly-Burnham

Louisa Connolly-Burham is an award-winning actor, director and screenwriter.

Louisa’s most recent short film SISTER WIVES, which she wrote, directed, produced and stars in alongside BAFTA-winner Mia McKenna-Bruce and Michael Fox, has received a series of accolades on it’s 2024 global festival run, including a record-breaking four awards at Sunrise Film Festival (including ‘Best British Film’ and ‘Best Director’), the Iris Prize for ‘Best British Short Film’, and being longlisted for BIFA.

Further accolades for the film include ‘Best LGBTQIA+ Film’ at Hollyshorts, ‘Best International Film’ at Cindependent Film Fest, and ‘Best Director’ at Brighton Rocks. The film is now available to stream on Channel4.

As a writer-director, Louisa has completed several successful short films. Her directorial debut short THE CALL CENTRE, which she also wrote and starred in, was nominated for “Best International Film” at the Foyle Film Festival and awarded the Audience Awards at ÉCU Film Festival and Sunday Shorts Film Festival. Her second short THE TRACK saw Louisa receive “Best Director” at the 2022 World Indie Film Awards. Her third and fourth directorial shorts THE CEILING and FLEETING will be released later this year.

As an actor, Louisa is best known for her roles in VAMPIRE ACADEMY (NBC Universal, Peacock) and the BAFTA-winning WOLFBLOOD (BBC). In 2024, she received the Iris Prize for ‘Best British Performance’ for her role as ‘Kaidance’ in SISTER WIVES. Previously, she was nominated for ‘Best Actress’ at the Queen World Film Festival for her role in the film BENEATH WATER, directed by Charlie Manton. She can also be seen in LITTLE CRACKERS (Sky), DRIFTERS (Channel 4), and CALL THE MIDWIFE (BBC). On the stage, Louisa starred in the leading role of the 2017 production of TRIBES at Crucible Theatre and in the 2018 production of BEIRUT at The Park Theatre.

Louisa founded her production company Thimble Films in 2019 and is the lead singer of alt-folk band VIRENS.
