Toby Fell-Holden

Toby Fell-Holden is a writer-director and a Screen Star of Tomorrow.

His short film BALCONY played at over 100 film festivals, winning over 30 awards, including the Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, the Iris Prize, and was nominated for Best British Short at the BIFAs.

His previous short film LITTLE SHADOW was long-listed for a BAFTA and nominated by the Casting Society of America for an Artios Award.

Toby was the lead director for the BBC’s anthology series THE BREAK II.

He’s currently in development on several scripted projects, including his debut feature WHITE LIES, with the BFI. The screenplay was selected for the Edinburgh Talent Lab and as one of four projects to take part in the inaugural 1497 Writer’s Lab for South Asian Filmmakers, where he was partnered with mentor Maryam Keshavarz.

Toby is a Sundance Screenwriting Labs finalist, has received an Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences fellowship, was honored as a Film London Lodestar and is the recipient of the John Brabourne Award.

Most recently, Toby was one of ten participants in the BBC London Voices 2024 scheme and his screenplay GARVITA placed in the top 3% of the BBC Open Call 2023.

He holds an MFA in Film from Columbia University, and BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University, and has taught filmmaking and masterclasses at Columbia, NYU and The National Film and Television School, amongst others.

He lives between New York and London.
